Christian Acres
Transitional Placing Program
“Christian Acres White
House “was established in November 2019.
Our program is designed to aid young men from age 16 to 21
who are nearing adulthood or soon to be leaving the office of
juvenile justice care, in learning the skills needed to succeed
independently. The
program primarily serves those youth from the Northern region of the
state however, youth state-wide are eligible to participate. The
home is located at 2037 Highway 594 in Monroe Louisiana on one acre
of land. The home has 8
bedrooms, 6 ½ bathrooms, a large central kitchen, 3 laundry rooms, 4
staff offices, a large dining area and a large great room.
Outside there is a separate recreational and training area to
be used by staff and residents.
The mission and
management philosophy of Christian Acres White House is to provide a
placement focusing on empowering young men to live independent
successful lives. These
youth are referred to the program by agencies with whom the agency
has entered into contractual agreements.
The program is committed to meeting the needs of our young
men first. We provide a
safe place for our young men to live and prosper.
We strive to achieve successful, lasting results by helping
our young men develop the skills that they need to live successfully
by focusing on independent living skills and educational needs.
Performance improvement will assist us in achieving
excellence. Constantly
assessing our strengths and needs, identifying areas of improvement
and communication with our staff, providers, youth and families will
help us to achieve improvement.
We also believe that education and role-modeling instigate
positive and sustainable changes in attitude and behavior.
It is our conviction that a resident should have a chance to
function in a community setting which allows him to return home so
that he may successfully re-enter the community.
This effort requires
close coordination with the resident’s support systems, notably the
family, counseling staff, educational staff and employers.
Using reintegration as a goal, the program incorporates a
carefully monitored, progressive reintegration into society.
Academic and vocational programs are available to interested
youth and are provided through standard public education.
It is a requirement that all youth placed at Christian Acres
White House continue their education by completing their HiSET.
Following their completion of their HiSET, staff strongly
encourage and motivate youth to continue their education through
either vocational or college level courses.
Satisfactory attendance and progression for those enrolled in
educational/vocational programming is mandatory.
Minimum oversight,
monitoring, substance abuse testing and counseling, and mental
health counseling are provided.
Thereby, maximizing compliance with treatment and court
orders.
With the primary
emphasis of the program focused on empowering young men to live
independent successful lives, there is much emphasis placed on
teaching residents much needed life skills necessary to be
productive in life.
Christian Acres White House utilizes the Ansel-Casey Life Skills
program to guide staff in training youth in the areas needed. The
program is designed to be completed in twelve months.
